The National Museum of Korea presents the thematic exhibition “The Buddhist Hanging Scroll at Cheongryongsa Temple” which is a large Buddhist painting (괘불 掛佛) used for rituals. This display is part of the regular series of the Buddhist painting exhibition held at the National Museum of Korea. The Buddhist hanging scroll from Cheongryongsa Temple which was a royal family’s temple in Anseong region will be presented to the public for this special occasion. The painting depicts “Śākyamuni Preaching on Vulture Peak” and is an early work of Korean Buddhist hanging scroll produced in the 17th century.
