Baekje Historic Areas of World Heritage
Musée National de Kyongju
Jusqu’au 7 mai 2017
In 2011 the Cultural Properties Committee of the Cultural Heritage Administration collectively designated Iksan, Gongju and Buyeo as the Baekje Historic Areas and placed them on the Tentative List of UNESCOs World Heritage Sites. The Baekje Historic Areas were inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites proper at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee held in July 2015 in Bonn, Germany. This exhibition is being held to commemorate the efforts made to achieve the UNESCO and to celebrate their success. We hope that this exhibition of the artifacts discovered at Iksan will provide viewers with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the historical significance of Gongju, Buyeo, and Iksan as the three capital cities of Baekje during the period 475 to 660, when the kingdom finally met its tragic end. The exhibition is also expected to deepen visitors understanding of the cultural achievements of Silla by comparing Baekjes heritage with that of Silla.
